The Hawaiian spirit has a profound and sacred connection between life
and land. Kaha Ki'i decorations made by the hand of man are found throughout
the islands of Hawaii in petroglyphs dating as far back as 900 A.D. Hawaii
Petroglyph Studios has recreated these historical images on clay that provide
a glimpse into the early written forms of communication in the Hawaiian
culture.
These petroglyph designs are put onto stoneware clay, treated individually
with red iron oxide and fired to 2300 degrees in kilns located deep within
the tropical rain forests of Volcano, Hawai'i.
